The Big Change: One Required Size Since 2024
Before September 2024, Apple required separate screenshot sets for the 6.5" and 5.5" display classes. That changed with a policy update — now you only need to submit screenshots for the 6.9-inch display class. Apple automatically scales those for all smaller iPhones.
For iPad-compatible apps, the same simplification applies: submit the 13-inch iPad size and Apple scales it for older models.
TL;DR for 2026
iPhone only app → submit 1320 × 2868 (6.9"). That's it.
iPhone + iPad app → also submit 2064 × 2752 (13" iPad).
Required iPhone Screenshot Size (2026)
| Display Class | Size (px) | Covers |
|---|---|---|
| 6.9" REQUIRED | 1320 × 2868 | iPhone 17 Pro Max, 16 Pro Max, 16 Plus, 15 Pro Max, 15 Plus, 14 Pro Max |
Both 1320 × 2868 and 1260 × 2736 are accepted for the 6.9" class. Use 1320 × 2868 — it matches the iPhone 16/17 Pro Max native resolution and renders the sharpest.
Optional iPhone Screenshot Sizes
These are no longer required but you can still submit them if you want pixel-perfect control over how your listing looks on older devices.

| 6.5" | 1242 × 2688 | iPhone 13 Pro Max, 12 Pro Max, 11 Pro Max, XS Max |

Frequently Asked Questions
Has anything changed for iPhone 17?
The iPhone 17 Pro Max uses the same 6.9" display class as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, so 1320 × 2868 covers both. The iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and iPhone Air fall in the optional 6.3" and 6.5" classes.
Do I still need to submit 1290 × 2796?
No. The 1290 × 2796 size (iPhone 16 Plus native resolution) falls in the 6.5" optional class. Since the 6.9" size is required and covers everything above, 1290 × 2796 is rarely worth submitting separately.
Can I submit the same image for all sizes?
Yes — if pixel dimensions match the required class. Make App Shots renders the same design template at each required size automatically.
What happens if I only submit one size?
Since September 2024, submitting just the 6.9" size (1320 × 2868) is fully compliant. Apple scales it for all other iPhones. You won't be blocked from submitting.
Do screenshot sizes change when new iPhones come out?
Apple adds a new display class only when a genuinely new screen resolution is introduced. The 6.9" class covers all recent Pro Max models, so new iPhones typically slot into an existing class.
